Your family or group is going to really love this large, open home nestled in the forested, boulder-strewn mountains outside of Denver! With room to spare, you will be able to seat everybody for meals. And if you CAN'T fit your entire group on the giant sectional couch in the living room, don't worry! There's a couch and a big screen TV in the Kids' Bunk Room, too! This fantastic space is easy to get to. Only an hour from DIA Airport, yet the views of the city lights at night will remind you how far you've come. Boulder, Golden, and the mountain town of Nederland are all 30 minutes away. Remote, yet accessible. The perfect getaway.
All Aboard!! Grab your chance to vacation right by the tracks of an active Rocky Mountain Railroad line. From 100-car coal trains to and from Utah, to mixed freight, and to the best of all, the California Zephyr passenger train, you'll get to see and hear a real railroad experience with a great bit of Colorado History attached to it! This newly remodeled, beautiful home in Coal Creek Canyon is situated just yards from the original Crescent Station, an important stop along the way over the Rockies. In olden times, folks could catch a horse-drawn cart from this exact area and ride to the top of this Canyon to Wondervu (and you KNOW the "vu" is amazing!) or else to places like Idaho Springs or Central City, the Richest Square Mile on Earth at that time. So much rich history, so little time!
To navigate to this newly remodeled 3 Bedroom home, you must travel up Highway 72, heading west from the northwestern suburbs of Denver, into the scenic foothill mountains of the renowned Continental Divide. "High desert plain" meets "alpine" in no time at all and you will find yourself surrounded by pines, firs, juniper, spruce and aspen. Along with the forest, the classic rounded boulder formations surrounding the home are enchanting. Get out and explore! But don't walk on the train tracks. As cool as that may sound, it is highly illegal and frowned upon in our respectful mountain communities. Please do not go there.
Just a few miles down Gross Dam Road, you can get to ... wait for it....Gross Dam! Yes, a gorgeous reservoir has been engineered in the mountains, with unpowered boating access, fishing above or below the dam, and picnic areas. Ask SkyRun about kayak rentals! From Memorial Day to Labor day, you will absolutely adore the serenity of this gorgeous high foothill lake! A favorite trailhead "Crescent Meadows" lies nearby less than a mile, across the tracks and up the road, north along Gross Dam Rd (you could easily walk to it!) and a satisfying 7.2 mile loop will make you feel good about your accomplishments for the day and you'll be able to justify a relaxing night by the propane firepit, that can be lit regardless of what the forest fire bans are (we are a dry state and this is a reality) Did you know you can make S'mores on a firepit? It’s true!
Enter the home and immediately direct the youngsters of the party to their room on the right: With 2 Queen over Queen bunk beds, we know that plenty of midnight conversations between siblings/cousins/friends will transpire here, and perhaps even some giggling reactions to the occasional 2 am freight train!
The main floor of the home welcomes you widely with a vaulted ceiling open to balconies above and a large kitchen/dining/living room ready for your whole group to start enjoying your vacation. A partially covered deck with a view that’s sure to please opens up off the living room, and a private office is great for the work-from-home option some of your party may need. Head upstairs to drop off your luggage and get ready for a wonderful surprise. The Master bedroom is not the only one with a king bed. All 3 bedrooms up here have kings! Now ALL the adults can feel pampered in the spacious luxury of this royally furnished home.
